Address the Humanitarian Needs in Education: Promoting Hygiene in Temporary Learning Spaces, Schools, and Communities
As an implementing partner of the ECHO-funded project, “Addressing the Multi-faceted Humanitarian Needs in Education for Children Affected by the crises in the NW region of Cameroon”, Global community Rescue (GCR) is working closely with UNICEF to promote hygiene practices in temporary learning spaces, schools, and communities across the North-West region of Cameroon.
Our Approach: A Multi-Setting Strategy

We believe that promoting hygiene practices in multiple settings is crucial for creating a healthier and more sustainable environment for children to learn and grow. Our hygiene promotion activities focus on:
- Handwashing with soap
- Proper use of toilets
- Menstrual hygiene management
- Waste management

Impact Accross Settings
Through this project, we have reached thousands of children and community members with hygiene promotion messages, leading to improved hygiene practices and reduced risk of water-borne diseases.

Partnership for Success
We are grateful for the partnership with ECHO and UNICEF, which has enabled us to make a significant impact in promoting hygiene practices in temporary learning spaces, schools, and communities across the North-West region of Cameroon.

Our Commitment
As an implementing partner, GCR is committed to continuing our hygiene promotion efforts in temporary learning spaces, schools, and communities, working closely with teachers, community leaders, and local authorities to ensure that every child has access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.

The ECHO-funded WASH project, implemented by Global Community Rescue (GCR) in partnership with UNICEF, has achieved a significant milestone with the successful construction of the first-ever toilet and borehole at MISPA TLS
The ECHO team recently visited the site and expressed their appreciation for the quality of work and the positive impact it will have on the learning space and community.
This achievement marks a crucial step towards improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities for the pupil in the learning space.
